My Favourite Podcasts for Copywriting Inspo

There are so many great podcasts around these days - and goodness knows I’m really only just getting started with the medium compared to some of the dedicated listeners out there cruising the pod-o-sphere.

But, just in case you’re even more of a newbie than I am to the world of podcasts, here’s what I’m listening to this month to help me become a more intuitive writer (and sound like I know what I’m talking about from time to time too).

The Digital Marketing Institute Podcast

British host Will Francis leads the conversations in these insightful discussions with leading industry experts from the digital marketing world. Try this episode on The Art of Copywriting for Digital and have your pens at the ready to scribble down the recommendations and actionable content.

The Future Belongs to Creators

This is a podcast from the creator of Convertkit, Nathan Barry, and really worth a listen.

It was started during the first lockdown, so you’ll have to buzz through their first few minutes of chatter about Covid at the start of each episode, but there are some cracking episodes on the importance of establishing an email list and how to create online courses.

Personally I prefer the earlier episodes from Barry and his co-host Barret Brooks… so scroll back through the archive or start at the very beginning (a very good place to start).

The Knowledge Project

I never miss an episode of The Knowledge Project from Farnham Street. It’s a podcast about learning from the best of what other people have mastered and, if you haven’t stumbled across Seth Godin yet, this is a great place to meet him in the company of the truly superior interviewer Shane Parrish.

Another great episode for anyone interested in the psychology of persuasion is this conversation between Shane and Rory Sutherland.

The Agents of Change

This was one of the first podcasts I ever listened to and it’s well worth going back into the archives to hear some insightful interviews with digital marketeers who really know their algorithms. This is a nice episode on copywriting for social media for anyone keen to stay focussed on developing their writing skills.

Copyblogger

A great podcast to kick off your listening habit with a huge back catalogue of episodes to browse and select something that interests you. Some of the hosts are better than other (read: better at listening to their guests and not just talking about themselves) but definitely worth a try.

The Copywriter Club

Here’s one I’ve only just started exploring but I’m really enjoying so far. I’ve listened to this episode on writing content but there’s a good selection of guests and topics to delve into in the (relatively small) archive.

Needless to say, there are hundreds of different podcasts out there on marketing, SEO, copywriting, advertising… etc. etc. So, if you’re going in for the first time, I really wouldn’t advise getting to caught up in the search function trying to find the exact perfect podcast, but instead pick one of these recommended episodes and dive straight in.

And I’m absolutely certain that you’ll know if some brilliant podcasts that I haven’t included in my round up here - so please please let me know in the comments or send me a link to my next must-hear!

If you find yourself frequently perusing Amazon for your next inspiring page-turner, be sure to check out these top titles for marketeers and copywriters too.

Happy listening!
