I get asked this a lot. Which is no surprise as being a digital copywriter firmly sits in the ‘I’m not really sure what she does’ category of jobs. Nursing? Clear as day. Teacher? Got it. Copywriter? Goodness me, what?!
So here it is for you in black and white: A digital copywriter can write all the content for your website, social media posts and any other marketing materials such as leaflets or brochures.
But it’s way more than just a bit of casual word-play. You can expect a decent digital copywriter to have a pretty refined understanding of SEO, to ensure that what they write on your website will help to generate high rankings in Google search results and drive customer leads.
Ideally, they will also be a dab hand at helping you to grow your email marketing list and create regular newsletter content, not to mention making effective use of social media and pulling together your marketing strategy in general. And, of course, they should have an insightful approach to customer psychology and a fantastic way with words.
When you go ahead and hire a great digital copywriter to help with your business marketing you are asking them to get to know your ideal customers, understand your product or services and your business ambitions. You are asking them to get inside the heads of those customers and work out how they think, how they talk and what they want to hear about from your business. You are asking them to understand how best to reach out to that ideal customer, build a conversation with them, reel them in and then help nudge them through to the point of purchase.
